The fee for both tests is $90; if a candidate opts to take an oral exam for the knowledge test, he must pay an additional of $15.

In the event that you do not pass one of the tests, you are given three attempts within 2 years after completing your training to pass. If you fail to pass within those attempts or within that time, you will no longer be allowed to reapply unless you complete another 150-hour CNA program.

Certification by Examination

The first step that one must take in becoming a certified nursing assistant is to look for a suitable training program to enroll in. These programs are offered by various healthcare institutions and training facilities everywhere. However, one must first ensure that the program that’s being offered is approved by either the DOH or Board of Nursing.

The Wyoming State Board of Nursing or WSBN required training programs offered within the state to last a minimum of 105 hours. The quickest and most common way of learning the competencies needed to become a CNA is to enroll in a training course. Courses are offered by various health care facilities and training schools. Compared to other courses, the cost of training is cheaper. Training courses are required to last at least 105 hours, which could take 3 to 4 months to complete. Curriculum will always have a theory and practical training portions that are taught at the same time.

An aspiring nursing assistant who can provide proof of successfully completing at least one semester of RN or LPN school within the last 2 years may skip school and apply immediately for the nurse aide exams.

Criminal Background Checks

Clearing the background checks may be done either before or after you submit an application for the Nurse Aide Registry. Applicants should immediately apply for the background checks as soon as they submit their applications for the NAR. It can take up to 60 days for the checks to return. There is also a $60 fee for the checks.

The CNA Exams

This is a two part exam that is divided into a 70-item multiple-choice written/oral exam and a practical skills demonstration. Both tests are conducted on the same day by the American Red Cross with the help of Pearson VUE. Candidates need to pass both parts to get certified.

If you suddenly become unavailable on your exam date, you’ll need to inform the ARC immediately. By calling (866) 257-5238 to inform them, you can reschedule for the exams without getting penalized. All payments are permanent and non-refundable.

Training to become a certified nurse aide in Wyoming is a great way to enter the field of healthcare. This way allows you to start a career with plenty of opportunities for advancement without spending too much time and money. Since the demand for nurse aides throughout the United States is constantly increasing, newly certified nurse aides won’t have problems looking for work.

students-of-nursing-program A CNA certificate is a requirement to work as a long-term nurse aide. An noncertified nurse aide may only work for up to 120 days or 4 months. A person may only get certified as a nurse aide if his name is on the Nurse Aide Registry. This registry contains all the names of nurse aides who have met the training and testing requirements. You can get your name placed on the NAR by passing the NNAAP exams after you complete an approved training regimen.

The state requires a nurse aide course to last at least 105 hours. Seventy-five (75) of the total hours are allocated for lectures and lab work, while an additional 16 hours are for supervised practice. Training coordinators have the choice what to do with the remaining hours. Both theory and practical training are required to be taught simultaneously.

There is a $60 application fee. The registry will hold your application for up to one year after completing your training. Within that time, you’ll need to apply and take the NNAAP exams and clear the DCI background checks. Each of them has their own corresponding fees and requirements.

The NAR can issue a temporary license if you wish to start working as a nurse aide. This license will allow you to perform nursing services for only up to 120 days. The NAR usually sends the license upon application. You’ll need to inform the NAR if you don’t wish to use your temporary license immediately.

The NNAAP exam is a two part examination that consists of a multiple-choice knowledge test and a random skills evaluation. The knowledge test may either be taken as a written or oral exam. First-time takers will have to pay $98 in the form of a money order or a cashier’s check. An applicant will automatically get placed on the NAR if he or she manages to pass both tests.
