If you want to become a nursing assistant in the state of Texas, you must be able to meet the different requirements. One of the requirements is to enroll in and complete a CNA school program that is approved by the state. The course you select must also provide an adequate amount of instructional hours. This amount is currently at a minimum of 24 hours of hands-on clinical training, and 51 hours of class lectures, coursework and class instruction.

The state does not require a high school diploma or any equivalent in order to enroll in a nursing assistant program.
