One of the requirements is to complete a CNA training program that has been authorized by the Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS). This must be done if you have not yet received any proper training and certification from another state. Another requirement is to pass the background check that is conducted by both the federal and the state. In some programs you will also be required to go through a physical exam and submit identifying documentation.

Each person who takes the competency exams are given three tries to pass each of the two tests. Those that do pass become certified nurse aides that are eligible to work for 24 months.
