The license exams for the state of Oregon are provided by Headmaster Testing Services. The two-part examination consists of a multiple-choice written exam and a return demonstration of the nursing skills that were taught in the training program. If you are applying to become a nursing assistant using route 1, 3, 5, 6, or 7, you will be required to take the competency exams of the state, which are conducted by Prometric. The exams consist of either an written or oral exam, and a skills evaluation on the basic nursing skills.

For those who are taking the exams at their training facilities, please make sure that the facility is approved by Prometric to conduct in-facility testing. If a candidate will not be able to take the exams on the scheduled date, the training facility is required to inform Prometric no less than 5 business days before exam date. If they are able to do so, the candidate will be given another scheduled exam date without any additional fees. All exam fees for a candidate who is not able to take the exam will be forfeited if no proper notice was given.

If the individual is taking the exams at a regional testing site, the candidate will have to inform Prometric himself. The notice must also be done at least 5 days before the scheduled examination date. If he misses the exams because of tardiness, he will no longer be allowed to do the exam and the fees are all forfeited.

In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, Prometric will provide an individual who has certain disabilities the considerations needed when taking the exams. The individual will have to request for the accommodations on the same date that he/she applied for the exam.

Foreign registered nurses are welcome to apply for a CNA certificate in the state of New York. Before their names are entered on the Registry, the applicant must be able to apply for and pass the license exams. For first time takers, the total costs will vary depending on whether the applicant will be taking the oral exam or the written exam along with the skills tests. The written and the skills tests cost $115 while the second option costs an additional of $20. For those who are planning on taking the oral exams, a request to take the oral exam must be sent along with the application form and the other requirements.
