The state of Colorado requires that its nurse aides must have a license to work long-term in any healthcare facility as a nurse aide. If you are already a holder of a CNA license that was issued from a different state, you are still required to apply for the NNAAP examinations. You will no longer be required to undergo retraining in this state. For your application, you will need to provide a copy of your license or proof of training. This rule also applies to LPN, RN, or LPT who practiced in any U.S. region. You must take the exams within 2 years from the submission of the requirements to Pearson VUE. If you fail to take within that time, your application will expire and you will need to apply all over again.
If your license was either revoked or surrendered, then you must wait 1-2 years, depending on your case, before you can apply again for the exams. You will also be required to undergo retraining in an approved training program prior to your application. Applications for these cases will take a longer period because you Nurse Aide Assessment Program will have to review your case more thoroughly.
