The South Dakota Board of Nursing is the entity charged with the training and the certification of nursing aide candidates in the state. The Administrative Rules of Dakota require those who are wishing to become nurse aides in the state to complete an accredited training program and pass the evaluation conducted by the facility, to have their name entered and verified by the employer on the nurse aid registry of the state, and to complete an in-service education for each year that they are certified as nurse aides in the state. They should also be able to show that they have satisfactory work performance evaluations from the registered nurses who are supervising them during work.
