To work as a nursing aide in South Carolina, you must be certified. You can only be certified if your name is on the state’s Nurse Aide Registry. If you do not have any background in the field of health, then the only way for you to get into the NAR is by challenging the NNAAP exam.

Nursing students and graduates may also apply directly for the exam. The first part of the exam is the knowledge tests. Candidates will have the option to take its written or oral version. Since the knowledge test is normally offered in its written form, those who wish to take the oral test must submit letter of request when applying for the exam. Each candidate will be given a maximum of 2 hours to answer all 70 multiple-choice questions and will be notified if there are only 15 minutes left.

They will only have a maximum of 30 minutes to perform all tasks. Out of the 5 nursing skills, only 4 will be random since one will always be proper hand-washing. During the day of your exam, please arrive at least 30 minutes before your actual scheduled time. Latecomers will not be allowed to enter the exam area and will not get a refund. You must also bring two valid IDs for your check in like a driver’s license, Social Security Card, or Passport. In order to be listed on the NAR, you must pass all the tests within 2 years of completing your training or within 3 attempts. If you fail to do this, you will need to complete another training program, before you can apply again.

In New Jersey, there are two types of nursing assistants. Each type has its own CNA training program that you are required to enroll in if you wish to be a CNA in the state. In addition to that, they will also be required to complete an Ethics Program that is specific to nursing home administrator candidates. The program may be taken online. As for the licensing exam, this will be a computer-based test that is administered by the Professional Examination Services through the National Association of Boards of Examiners of Long Term Care Administrators.
