The CNA Registry contains all the names of nursing assistants who were able to comply with the training and testing regulations of both the Federal and State. Only those whose names are on the list will be allowed to work in a nursing facility.
If you want to get your name on the Registry, you will need to first get proper education and training by enrolling in a state-certified training class. These classes take 6 weeks to complete. You must also be present in all training sessions so that you can meet the 130 training hour requirement. You will be spending your time learning the different concepts of the Fundamentals of Nursing, as well as the skills needed to take care of the patients. You will then apply what you have learned when you go to the clinical area for the practical exposure portion of the training program.
Once you complete your training, your next step will be to challenge the license exams, which care conducted by Pearson Vue. You will need to pass the written/oral exam and the practical demonstration in order to get your certification. You can contact Pearson Vue toll free at 1-888-204-6213 to talk with one of their associates to schedule a time to take the examinations.
Certifications for this state last only for 24 months. You will need to renew it by working for at least 8 hours as a paid nursing assistant within that time to keep your certificate active. For more details about registry renewal or the latest requirements you can contact a representative of the Mississippi State Department of Health by calling 601-364-1100.
