The state of Colorado requires its nurse aides to have a license or certification when they work in long-term healthcare facilities like hospitals and nursing homes. To get their license they must apply for the NNAAP Examination and pass it. The examination is conducted by Pearson VUE. Their license exam is composed of a written and a skills evaluation exam.
The written exams sometimes replaced with an oral exam. The first part, which is the written examination, will be conducted through the internet. It will be composed of 70 multiple-choices questions. If you will have an oral exam, then only 10 of the questions will be multiple-choice reading comprehension. They will provide you will an audio file for this. If you happen to fail the exams, you can immediately retake it without waiting for the normal period. You will need to pay the fees again for retaking the examination. You can only proceed to the skill evaluation if you pass the first part of the exam. In the second part, you will be given 25 minutes to perform the 5 randomly selected nursing skills. Your performance will be rated by a Nurse Aide Evaluator.
