The first task in becoming a CNA in Colorado is the completion of a state-approved training program. These programs are being offered by colleges, high schools, as well as healthcare facilities and other institutions. A state-approved program must offer at least 80 hours in both lectures and hands-on skills training. These programs can be completed within 3-4 months, depending on the program you choose. Passing a training course will make you eligible to take the NNAAP exams. These exams are necessary for you to get a license. You are ineligible to work in the state if you do not have a nurse aide license.
After you complete your training, your next step would be passing the background checks for criminal cases. This is done to protect the interest of the patients that you will be taking care of. For further protection of the patients, nursing assistants must be in a good state of health and should not have any communicable diseases. That is why one of the requirements is getting immunizations and physical exams. All that will be left for you do to next will be the submission of simple documents like the complete application form, transcript of records, ID photo, fingerprint cards, and paying the fees for the exams to Pearson VUE.
