The first step that you must make in becoming a CNA in the state of Colorado is the enrollment in either a nursing program or a nurse aide training program. The program that you enroll in should be approved by the state. To complete a nurse aide program, you must have at least 80 hours in training. Your training will be composed of theoretical lessons and hands-on skills training. You will learn about the basic care principles as well as other concepts like emergency protocols, infection control, rehabilitation, and proper communication skills.
After the completion of a training program, you can then apply for the state license exam. Those who completed nursing programs like RNs, LPNs, and LPTs are very much welcome to also apply. They will only be required to provide a copy of their records to prove their training and experience. In both cases, the applicants must be able to pass the exams within 2 years from the submission of their applications to Pearson VUE. For more information about the topics for the NNAAP exams, you can find out at their website at www.pearsonvue.com.
