There a lot of requirements that must be done in order to become a nursing assistant in Colorado. You can only work here if you have a nurse aide license and to get one, your name must be in the state’s nurse aide registry. It will only be entered there if you have passed NNAAP (National Nurse Aide Assessment Program) Exams. If you have not undergone any proper education and training as a nursing assistant, they you must enroll yourself in a state-approved training program. To complete a program, you must have at least 80 hours in both theoretical lessons and skills training.
Once you complete your CNA training, you will be eligible to take the license exams. Those who have completed courses like Nursing, Practical Nursing, or Psychiatric Nursing may also apply for the NNAAP exams. They must submit a transcript of records or a letter of validity from the school that they attended that they completed the necessary subjects. Every applicant has 24 months to pass the exams. If they pass that time, their applications will expire and they will have to apply again. For more information, you can call the Board of Nursing at (303) 894-2437 or Pearson VUE at (888) 274-5050.
