Becoming a nursing assistant in New Jersey is easy if you meet the requirements. One of the requirements is to pass a CNA training program with the minimum set of hours that is required by the state. Another requirement is to pass a background check to see if you have a criminal record. The last requirement is to apply for and pass the state license examination.
Obtaining a nurse aide certification is a requirement for all those who want to work in either a long-term healthcare center or a personal care home. Part of the certification process is to complete NATCEP or PCA training program in order to become eligible to take the license examinations. By pass all the test in the license exams, the candidate will gain entry into the New Jersey Nurse Aide Registry and receive his certificate.
The license exam however is not only limited to those who enrolled in the programs mentioned. Other individuals such as students, graduate, registered nurses, foreign RNs, who were able to complete their course that included in the Fundamentals of Nursing, can also apply for the exams. Individuals who successfully completed a course in the Fundamentals of Nursing no more than 12 months may also apply for the exams. In addition to that, medics who received their training from the military and have met other requirements may also apply.

The application forms may be downloaded from the PSI website at http://www.PSIEXAMS.com. They can also download a copy of a Candidate Information Bulletin, a copy of a NA Practice Exam sample, and order other Non-secure materials.
Once entered onto the Nurse Aide Registry, the registry will also have other personal information, that many of which will not be shared to the public. The information that are found in the registry may include, personal name, social security number, certification number, contact number, employers, criminal backgrounds, and mailing address. If you have any changes to the information, the individual is required to inform the Registry. To inform them, please call (877) 774-4243 which is their toll-free number. The same number is also used to entertain any request for a duplicate of nurse aide certificates.
