The completion of a state-approved CNA course is one of the most important steps in becoming a nursing aide. These programs are being offered by different institutions such as technical colleges, and community training centers. It will take you less than 13 weeks to complete the program. To ensure that you will be able to apply for the license exams, you should only enroll in a program that is certified by the state. If you enroll in such a program, you will have a total of 90 hours of training at the end of it. Once you receive the proper education and training, you can then send in your completed application form to apply for the exams. These exams are composed of a written and a skills demonstration exam. There are also occasions where you might have an oral exam as the first part of the test instead of a written one. To get your name entered in the registry, you must be able to pass all the parts.

Your name will be automatically added to the Nurse Aide Registry. You will need to maintain that status if you wish to maintain your eligibility to work in a nursing facility as a CNA. Every two years, you will receive a notice from the board that you must renew your license. You can either renew it online or through mail. Applicants that are certified from other U.S states and some countries must also complete the application and background screening when they are applying for their certification.
