If you want to become a nursing assistant in California, then it is important that you know what the requirements are, and what a nursing assistant is. Once you are through with your training the next step is to apply for the certification exam. Challenging the certification exam is the final step in becoming a nursing assistant. According to the law, only certified nursing assistants are allowed to work in a CDPH-approved nursing facility. Employers are required to check each applicant’s certification before hiring them.

The certification exam in California is offered by Pearson VUE. It consists of a written/oral test and a skills evaluation. Both parts of the exam are taken on the same day. You will be given 2 hours  for the written/oral test and 25 minutes for the skills evaluation. You must pass all the tests to get certified.
