The first step in becoming a nursing aide is to find CNA classes to enroll in. Courses must be pre-approved by the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services and offer the minimum 90 hours of training. These programs are open to anyone who wants to have a career in the medical field as a nurse aide.

Instruction will provide you with the basic health care skills needed on the job. Some of the tasks you will practice are: transporting patients, infection control, housekeeping, feeding/nourishment, dressing,bathing, catheter care, measuring vital signs, first aid, CPR, Heimlich Maneuver, communication skills, dealing with dementia, and end of life care to name a few.
