That is why the first part of becoming a nursing aide is to enroll in a state-approved training program. Because of the shortage of nursing aides in California, healthcare providers are now offering 150-hour Nursing Aide Training Programs/NATPs. You can now enroll in programs offered by nursing homes, hospitals, assisted living centers, rehabilitation centers, private training facilities, and technical and vocational colleges. Training programs are required to be certified by the state’s Department of Public Health before handling any student. This exam is divided into a 70-item multiple-choice knowledge test and a random clinical skills test.
