Pursuing this line of career is very practical since the training does not cost that much and does not take that long. On average, a state-approved training program can cost around $400 to $1000. This exam has two parts. The first part is the knowledge tests, which can be taken either in the written form or its oral version. For those who are taking the oral version, they may choose to take it in either English or Spanish. All questions for this part will be multiple-choice. Candidates are also given a maximum of 2 hours to answer everything.  The second part is the skills evaluation. In this part, the candidates will have to perform 5 randomly selected nursing skills in a given scenario in front of an evaluator.

The results of the exams are normally released on the exam date. If you pass all the tests, your name will be entered in the registry and you will receive your certification, which is valid for 24 months. To remain on the registry, you must submit the renewal application form and provide proof that you were able to work as a paid nursing aide for a minimum of 8 hours while under the supervision of a registered nurse.
