If you are looking for a way to start a career in the field of health, then you might want to consider becoming a nursing assistant. Certified nursing assistants are very in demand in this state. Compared to other courses, the process of becoming one is much faster. You can also make the experiences you gained as a nursing assistant a stepping stone when you want to achieve a higher degree.
The first step in becoming a nursing assistant is to enroll in a CNA training program. You must equip yourself with the needed knowledge and skills to take care of each patient’s individual needs. When selecting a program, you must only choose one that is approved by the California Department of Public Health. This will ensure that you will receive proper training as well as qualify for the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program Exam.
The NNAAP exam is divided into two parts – a multiple-choice knowledge test and a skills evaluation exam. Both tests are conducted with the help of Pearson VUE at Regional Testing Centers all over the state. In order to get certified you must pass both the tests within 2 years after passing your training.
All application forms must be sent along with the payment of $90 for the testing fee to the Regional Testing Center in your Area. Here are the addresses for each of them.

In case you fail, you are given another 2 attempts to pass. You can immediately reapply and reschedule for a retake of the exam that you failed. These attempts are only valid within 2 years after your training. Those who are enrolled in a facility-based program only have 4 months from the start of their work to get certified. You will be required to undergo retraining if you still fail your 3rd attempt.
