The state of Kansas requires that all those who wish to become a nursing assistant in the state must be able to enroll in a certified training program. These programs can either be a nursing aide program or a different nursing course. The completion of a program will make you eligible to apply for the license exams. If you are able to pass all the tests, your name will be automatically entered in the state’s Registry. Those who trained as a nurse from a different country may also apply for the CNA exams. They will need to provide a copy of their certificate or show proof of their training and experience such as transcripts off records. They will also be required to meet the required number of hours of practical training. You can contact the Kansas Nurse Aide Registry with any questions about training or certification at (785) 296-6877.
The state does not allow any individual to work in the state as a nursing assistant if they are unable to get their name entered in the state’s Nurse Aide Registry. For those individuals that finished their training in a different state, they may still be able to work in Kansas. They will have to apply for reciprocity. Once they apply they will have to undergo screening since reciprocity does not apply to all states. They will also be required to provide needed document proving their training and take a evaluation test before they can be entered in the registry. The applicants will need to show proof of their training and experience when they apply. For more information, please follow this link: http://www.kdads.ks.gov/HOC/Cert_Nurse_Aide/CNA_Index.html.
