The state only allows those nursing assistants whose names are on the Registry to work in a license healthcare facility. If you are already working as one, then you must be able to get your name on the list by enrolling in a training program and passing the competency exams within 4 months from the start of your work.
Typically classes will take several months to complete depending on the instruction you select. Course must be approved by the state registry and offer a minimum of 75 hours of classroom coursework. In addition they are required to provide at least 100 hours of on the job training to help you receive real-world experience in a clinical setting. After finishing you can schedule a date to try and pass the exams to receive active status on the registry and your license.
For those who have had their license statuses changed into in active, they will have to reactivate it before they are allowed to work again. To do so, they have to apply and take the competency exams again. When they have submitted the requirements, the applicants will be notified within 7 to 10 working days.
If you are a nursing assistant whose record is inactive but was continuing to work, then you will need to inform the Registry so that they will change your status. To do this, you must be able to provide proof of your employment by providing:
1. A letter from your employer that includes the dates that you were working, your position, and the duties that you performed.
2. A copy of the W-2 Form.
3. You will also be required to provide a copy of your payment stub/check.
