There are a lot of requirements that must be done before you can take on the license exams. Passing the license exams is a must step if you want to have long-term work as a nursing assistant. In becoming a nursing assistant, you must undergo the proper training and education by completing a state-approved CNA program. These programs are commonly referred to here as Nurse Aide Training Programs or NATPs. They are scattered all over the state and can be completed within 6 months of training. You can find them offered by different institutions like colleges, high schools, community training centers, and certain healthcare settings.
After you complete your training, you can then apply for the license exams. Every applicant is allowed to retake the exams twice within a span of 1 year. After failing for the third time, the applicant must enroll in another certified training program before retaking the exams. To pass the license exams, the applicant must be able to pass both the written/oral and the skills evaluation exams.
Certified nursing assistants from other states are also allowed to work in Georgia by applying for reciprocity. When they are applying, they should make sure that they have an active license status and a good relationship with their state. Having a good relationship is important in passing the background checks for criminal records. These checks will also be done at both federal and state levels.
