The NNAAP exam is divided into a multiple-choice knowledge test and a skills evaluation of the different nursing skills that were taught during training. Candidates who have trouble reading English can request to take an oral exam instead of the written exam for the knowledge test. Candidates will be given two hours to answer all questions and 25 minutes to perform all 5 requested nursing skills.

If a candidate passes all the tests, his name will be forwarded to the ATCS. They will then send the candidate’s CNA certificate within 10 days after passing. This certificate is only valid for 2 years and must be renewed before it expires to keep one’s eligibility to work as a CNA.
