The only way for you to be able to work as a nursing aide in Kansas is if you have a CNA license. You will only receive one if you are able to pass all the tests in the exams. These examinations are being handled by Health Occupations Credentialing and are composed of a written/oral exam and a skills evaluation. Once you pass all the tests, your name will automatically be added to the state’s Nurse Aide Registry. Before you are allowed to take the exams, you have to become eligible to apply for it first. To do that, you must find a state-approved training program to enroll in. These programs usually take an average of 8 to 13 weeks to finish. Once you are through, you may then send the necessary documents to apply.
Taking the license exams is the only way to get your name in the Registry. This rule has no exception to anyone who wishes to work in the state as a nursing aide. Even nurse aide license holders who get approval for reciprocity will also need to take the exams. For more information, please follow this link: http://www.kdads.ks.gov/HOC/Cert_Nurse_Aide/CNA_Index.html. You should know that unlike some states, your license will expire every two years. The date of expiration is the last day of your birth month. You should renew it before then.
