There are several different requirements that you must first comply with before you are allowed to work in any healthcare setting as a nursing assistant. The most important requirement is to finish a certified CNA training program. You can find the training programs that are available in the city on this page. The training programs that are being offered in this state can mostly be completed within 6 months of continuous training, depending on the program you enroll in.
Once you completed your training, you can then apply for the license exams on this state. When applying, you must send in your completed application form along with the necessary documents such as your proof of training, ID photo, fingerprint cards, and they payment for the different fees. The state also requires that all applicants must submit a copy of the results for their background checks. Failing to provide one will make you unable to proceed in your application. Having records such as theft or offenses involving drugs can greatly affect your application.
All applications are forwarded to Prometric. They are the ones who are responsible of conducting the license exams for Connecticut and other states as well. If you pass the license exams, you will get your name entered in the state’s Nurse Aide Registry. To pass the license exams, you must pass both the written and the skills evaluation exam.
