If you wish to work in the state of New Jersey as a CNA, you must first get your license. You can only get your license if you pass the license exams that are given by the state. You have to choose on what type of exam you are going to take. You can either chose to take the NATCEP or PCA test.
An individual who is registered as a certified nurse aide in a different state may still get his name entered on the New Jersey Nurse Aide Registry, if he is able to meet the different requirements of obtaining a nurse aide certification through reciprocity. When applying, the applicant will need to contact PSI at 1-877-774-4243.
The one of the things that must be done is to give a copy of a document to the New Jersey Department of Health, that shows proof that the applicant has completed a training program and passed the license exams that is equivalent to those found in New Jersey. When applying, the applicant must not have any records that convict him of any crimes and no documentation that he has committed abuse, neglect, or misappropriation of a resident’s property.
The last thing needed is that the applicant must pass the CBI background checks. The necessary forms such as the CBI application form will be included in the reciprocity application packet. The forms will include questions that must be answered truthfully so to avoid disqualification or a fine. The instructions that are provided in the packet must be followed completely to avoid any delays in the processing. The processing usually takes 12 weeks. After completing the forms, the pink one must be given to the employer, while the yellow is to be sent to :
