If you love to take care of people and want to pursue a career in health care, then you should start to consider becoming a nursing assistant. If you have no background training whatsoever in health, then your only option to become a CNA is to pass the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program Exam.
This exam is only available to those who received the proper training. You may apply for the exam if you:
• Completed a South Carolina DHHS-approved nursing assistant program
• Completed a CNA program from another state
• Had enrolled in or completed a nursing education or practical nursing program
• Were trained as a medic or a corpsman in the military

When you apply, you will need to fill out and complete the application packet. You may get the forms from your instructor or download it from www.pearsonvue.com or www.dhhs.state.sc.us. Along with the forms, you will also need to submit proof of your training such as a copy of your diploma, transcript of records, or certification of completion of training. As for the payment for the exam fees, these should be in the form of a company check, certified check, money order, or Pearson VUE vouchers and made payable to NACES. Once NACES receives all the documents, they will send your Authorization to Test Notice. This Notice will contain important information regarding your exam and exam date. Please remember to arrive at least 30 minutes before the actual scheduled time to avoid being late.
