To qualify to work as a CNA in Alabama you must enroll in a program that teaches the basic skills you will need on the job and apply for and pass the written and skills certification test. You can find many vocational schools, colleges and nursing homes that provide the necessary training you will need to meet certification requirements for the classes criteria.Your instruction will include clinical skills practice to help you learn to perform the tasks used on the job. In addition you will receive theoretical instruction including procedural and state and federal health care provider mandated information.
The license exams will be conducted by Prometric. To pass them you will need to complete a multiple choice test and a clinical skills demonstration. For the clinical part you must perform successfully five different tasks chosen at random from 22 available tasks that you learned during your instruction. To stay in good standing on the registry you will be required to work as a nursing assistant within 24 months for 8 hours.
