To be able to take the test to receive your nursing assistant certification in the state of Missouri most people will need to take a CNA training class consisting of one hundred hours of practice in a clinical setting, and seventy-five hours of classroom instruction. It’s also a requirement to be 18 years of age, and pass a state and federal criminal background check.
The state allows those who qualify to try to challenge the examination without attending an instructional course. To apply for this you will need to submit a letter of approval from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services. Those who choose this option will only get one chance to pass the two part competency exam and will need to enroll in a course if they fail. you can contact the state office to learn more about current requirements by calling 573-526-5686, or reach them by email at: info@health.mo.gov.
The CNA Registry is a master list of all the nursing assistants that are allowed to work in Missouri as a nursing assistant. This Registry is maintained by the state’s Department of Health and Senior Living Services. Aside from nursing assistant, this list also contains the names of certified NA instructors and clinical supervisors.
The list does not only contain the names of those who are allowed to practice nursing assistance in this state. It also contains their detailed and up-to-date personal information. This information includes social security number, recent address, contact information, and other important details. If an individual wishes to add or remove something from his record, he will need to submit a NAR Update Form.
Nursing assistant certifications must be renewed every 2 years by working for at least 8 hours as a paid nursing assistant during that time. Failing to renew the certification will change the status into inactive. If the status has remained inactive for 5 years, then it will be changed into an expired certification/license.
