A license is a requirement to be able to work long-term in a nursing facility as a nursing aide. For the state of North Dakota, the exams are conducted by Pearson VUE at approved testing centers. Before one is allowed to take, one must apply for it after completing a state-approved training class.

For those with difficulty in reading English, it is beneficial to know that the written exams are also given orally. The candidate can get an oral exam instead of a written one by simply requesting for it during application. In contrast to the written exam, the oral consist of another two parts. The first part is the 60 items of multiple-choice questions, and the second is another multiple-choice set of questions regarding the common words that are used in the long-term healthcare facility. Like the written exam, the oral exam will take a maximum of 2 hours to complete.

To pass this part, you will have to perform all the skills properly.
To gain entry into the Registry and receive your license, you must pass both portion of the NNAAP exam. You, and any other candidate, will be given 3 attempts to pass all the exams.
