If you are planning on becoming a nurse aide in the state of Kansas, then you will need to know what the different requirements are. You will be required to spend a number of hours in classroom and clinical experiences when you enroll in a state-approved training program. CNA classes in KS are required to offer a minimum of 90 hours of training, which already include the number of hours required for clinical duties.
Once you are through with the program, you can then apply for the license exams by sending you application letter with the needed documents. You can get a copy of the application forms at http://www.kdads.ks.gov/HOC/Cert_Nurse_Aide/CNA_Index.html. One of the most important documents that you will need to send is the results for you federal and state background checks. You will not be allowed to proceed if you fail this part.
If you are able to take and pass all the tests n the license exams, your name will be added to the Nurse Aide Registry. The state will only allow a nursing assistant to work in a nursing facility, if his or her name is in the Registry. If you are a holder of a certification as a nursing assistant in a different state, you may still be able to work in Kansas. You will have to undergo a quick background check because the state does not offer reciprocity to every other state. Once you pass the background check, you will then be given an evaluation test before your name can be entered in the registry.
