In order to be approved for the CNA license exams you must enroll in a state-approved training program. The program will take about 8 weeks to complete. While enrolled in the class you will be spending most of your time in classroom lectures and skills training. You will also get to practice those skills in a health care setting like a nursing home or a hospital environment. Aside from completing a training program, you must be able to pass the background checks and physical exam. These are the main requirements to getting accepted to take the certification exams.
Those who complete their course instruction will need to pass the license exam within two years or have to retake the program. Each applicant is allowed three attempts within the two year period to take the exams. The exams are given in two separate portions which are a manual demonstration exam, and a multiple choice test. Those who pass are included on the registry for nurse aides and become certified and eligible to work.
