Becoming a nursing assistant in the state of Michigan is not so hard. All you have to do is to follow and complete the requirements. The first step is to enroll in a certified nursing assistant program. There, you will learn the skills needed to take care of a patient and their families. You will be training under the supervision of a registered nurse in a nursing facility. If you complete the program, you can then take the state exams to get your license.
Taking the state’s license exam is the final step in becoming a nursing assistant. These tests are only open to those who have successfully complied with both the federal and stat’s requirements. If you are able to pass all the tests, your name will be entered in the state’s Nurse Aide Registry and you will be allowed to work in any healthcare facility you wish to apply to.
Your license will be valid for up to two years. You will need to renew it if you want to continue to become eligible for work. Those who want to renew must have worked for at least 8 hours with pay during that time. They must have also been under the supervision of a registered nurse. For those who are working in a nursing facility, they will be required to have a 12 hour in-service training sessions.
If you have failed to renew your license and it has expired, it will then be considered obsolete. You will need to start again from scratch. This means that you will again undergo training in a state-certified program, as well as take and pass the license exams.
