In order to become a nursing assistant, you must comply with the different state requirements. If you have not yet undergone proper training, then you must enroll yourself and complete a state-approved CNA training program. These programs take about an average of 6 months to finish. To pass a program, you must have at least 75 hours of theoretical lessons and 100 hours of clinical practice. After you complete the program, your next task is to take on the state license exams. You cannot work as a nursing assistant in Florida if you do not have a license/certification. The license exams in this state are being handled by Prometric. Before taking the license exams, you must also undergo the background checks for criminal records. You will not be allowed to proceed if you fail.
The license exams here are composed of a written and a demonstration of skills portion. You can have the written exams replaced with a oral exam if you send a letter of request along with your other application paperwork.
