The state does not allow any individual whose name is not on the registry to work in a healthcare facility or agency. When someone applies for work, they will be required to check their status by going online to https://registry.prometric.com/registry/publicMI, in order to determine if the name of the applicant is in the Registry or not. In the previous system, all that was required for the facility or agency to search was simply the Social Security number of that person. Since the state has put up a new website, there are also new requirements when you search. You will now need to provide the exact name or the certificate ID number. The address of the new website is the link that is provided above. If you have stored on your browser or computer the link of the old one, then you will need to delete it. The URL for the old site is now rendered useless.
Once you pass the examination your license is valid for up to two years. To be eligible for renewal, you will need to prove that you have worked at least 8 hours in a care facility within the previous two year period. To speak with a registry representative about renewal you can call 1-800-748-0252.
