Before you are allowed to take care of the patients, you must first learn all the skills and knowledge that you will require to be able to do so. For you to learn all that you need, you must enroll in and complete a CNA training course. There, you will learn about the basic nursing skills, infection control, emergency procedures, and other topics and skills.

A CNA certificate is required to work in the state of Oklahoma as a nursing aide. All nursing facilities and other employers are expected to take the responsibility and verify the status of the nursing aide before hiring them. They can easily do this by going online at http://www.ok.gov/health/pub/wrapper/naverify.html and fill out the fields. They may use the complete name of the nursing aide to verify the status or enter their certification number.

To get a nurse aide certification, you must be able to get your name entered into the NAR by passing the competency evaluation exam. You can only take the examination after you have successfully completed a state-approved training program. Nursing students or graduates who can provide proof of their training and education may directly apply for the exam without undergoing any additional training. Since there are six different types of nursing aide certification (long term care aide, home health aide, developmentally disabled direct care aide, residential care aide, adult care aide, and certified medication aide), the length of your training will depend on which certification you apply for and which program you enroll in.

Another option of gaining entry into the Registry is by applying for reciprocity. The process of reciprocity is only available to individuals who are already certified as a nursing aide but are registered in a different state. If you have worked for at least 6 months under the same nursing facility, you will become qualified to clime the nursing aide ladder and become a certified nursing aide II or III. To do this, you will have to enroll in another training course, which can take 27-30 hours. The great thing about these courses is that they are sponsored by the state’s Department of Health.
