The healthcare team is made up of several healthcare givers such as the physicians, nurses, therapists, dieticians, and also nursing assistants. Nurse assistants work close with the nurses in taking care of the patients and their families. They also use the concepts of the Fundamentals of Nursing as well as the basic nursing competency skills in taking care of them. These are all done in accordance with the patients’ care plans. Aside from that they also report to the other team members any chances in the patients’ status. To be able to do that, they must first learn all that there is to know on how to become certified to work. It is important that the patients only receive top quality care, which is why the state requires all aspiring licensees to enroll in state-approved CNA programs before they are allowed to handle the patients.
Once they are through with the program, all they learn will then be tested during the nurse aide license exams. These exams are handled by the Ivy Tech Community College, which are composed of a written and a skills demonstration exam. You can set a test date with them by calling them at 317-917-5948. By passing all the tests, the applicants name will automatically be entered in the state’s registry and he/she will become eligible to work in a healthcare facility. If you come from a different country and had finished nursing assistant classes there and are planning on working in the state of Indiana, you must first apply for reciprocity. Before you can apply though, you must first complete the set of hours that is required by the state. You must also have a good standing with your previous registry and have not committed any felony.
