Becoming a nursing assistant in the state of Michigan is not so hard. All you have to do is to follow the federal and the state requirements. The most important requirement is for you to pass a nursing assistant training program that is approved by the state. Once you are through with the program, you can then take the state license exams.
Your course training will cover 51 different health care skills which you will get to practice in a medical environment. In total your class will provide at the least 75 hours of instruction. After you are finished you will receive an Authorization to Test (ATT). This will describe testing facilities in your area you can contact as well as instruction with how to proceed to taking your license examination. For further details call the Michigan Nurse Aide phone support at 1-800-752-4724.
The increase in the demand for nursing aides does not necessarily mean that they are the only ones who have higher job opportunities. The same also goes for other members who are involved in healthcare. For example, registered nurses may be able to apply as instructors in facilities that offer CNA training programs.
If you wish to be a program coordinator, then you will need to be an RN that is licenses by the state of Michigan and have a train-the-trainer certificate. As a program coordinator, you will be tasked with all the administrative responsibilities of the program. If you feel that this is not your thing, you may also apply as a primary instructor these two have basically the same requirements with the exception that you must have worked for at least 1 year in a healthcare setting.
An LPN may apply to be a delegate instructor. As one, you will be tasked with classes, laboratory works, and clinical teachings that will be delegated to you by the Primary instructors. When you are a delegate instructor, you will be under the supervision of the primary instructor for at least 50% of the classes and laboratories, and full-time when you are having your clinical teachings.
