The Indiana Department of Health is the one that manages the Nurse Aide Registry. In order for the nursing aides to maintain their standard of care, they must be able to undergo proper training and education. That is why all aspiring nursing aides must only enroll in programs that are certified by the state. This is also to ensure that the quality of care that the residents receive is top quality. There are several different educational facilities that offer nursing aide training in Indiana. They can choose from college, community training centers, to even select healthcare centers. These programs will offer you a total of 105 training hours. These hours will be divided into 30 hours of classroom instructions and 75 hours of clinical duties.
After you have learned the different concepts of the Fundamentals of Nursing and trained on the basic nursing skills, you will then be tested when you go take on the CNA license exams. Taking on these exams are a necessary step since the state will not allow you to work as a nursing aide if your name is not in the registry. The exams will be conducted in two parts, a written competency, and practical skills test. Upon passing you will be placed on the state registry and eligible to work. You can set a date and find a test location by contacting Ivy Tech Community College at 317-917-5948. For additional details about registry requirements try calling the Indiana State Department of Health at (317) 233-7442.
