According to the state rules, all those who want to become a nursing aide in the state of Indiana must first be enrolled in CNA classes to receive proper education and skills training. To ensure that your training will be of good quality, you should only enroll in a program that is approved by the state. These programs are offered by different educational facilities such as colleges, healthcare centers, and even high schools.
For the programs to be approved, they must have a total of 105 hours of training or more. These hours must be divided into classroom instructions, skills training, and clinical rotations. The students must have a total of no less than 75 hours for their duty training and 30 hours of classroom instructions. When they are in the clinical duties, they will be placed under the care of a RN or another qualified or authorized member of the healthcare team.
Once you complete a training program, you can then proceed and take on the license exams. If you pass the license exams, your name will automatically be entered in the state’s Nurse Aide Registry. If you want to become a certified to work you have to take the exams because the state will not allow you to work as a CNA if your name is not in the registry.
