It is not that hard to become a nursing assistant in the state of Hawaii if you know what the different requirements are. The most important thing that you must have in order to become eligible for work as a nursing assistant is a CNA license. The only way you will receive a license is if you take on and pass the license exams that are either conducted by the Red Cross or Prometric.

To become eligible to apply for the license exams, you will need to enroll in and complete a state-approved training program. These programs are offered by different institutions like colleges, high schools, and community training centers. Depending on the program you select, it will take you an average of 6 months to finish your training. All graduates from certified programs must have over 100 training hours which should include clinical practice and classroom lessons. Currently certified nursing assistant training programs need to offer 70 hours of class coursework and 35 hours of experience in a health care setting. After which, you can then submit an application to take a certification exam. The exams will last for up to 5 1/2 hours. If you happen to fail the exam, then you may re-take it after 30 days.

If you are a nurse aide license holder, you are welcome to apply for reciprocity to be allowed to work in the state.
