Finishing a nursing assistant training course is one of the requirements for you to be able to take the state license exams. While under training, you will be equipped with the skills that you will need to take care of the patients and the patients’ families. These skills are considered to be the most basic health care skills. Some of the common ones include, recording vital signs, transporting patients, nourishment, dressing, bathing, catheter care, housekeeping, observation skills, communication, infection control, and proper safety procedures to name a few.
All classes must be state-approved training programs. For a program to be approved, they will have to apply for approval from the registry. To do this, they must meet the minimum required number of hours for training, as well as submit their curriculum for reviews. The required amount of training for this state is a total of 100 hours. These hours will already include the lectures and the needed clinical training.
After the student is done with the training, he or she may then apply for the license exams. When applying, he/she will need to submit proof of the actual training, the results of their background check, fingerprint cards, ID photos, and the payment for the exams. To ensure that the patients will be safe, the applicant will have to undergo immunizations and TB tests. Once the applicant gets the approval to take the exams, he/she will then receive a date for the exams. If there is any conflict with the schedule given, the applicant must call the Testing Office at (781) 979-4010 for rescheduling.
