Nursing assistants are currently highly sought after due to the rising demands in the healthcare industry today. Because of the high demand for workers of this profession, more and more people are able to be employed and gain valuable experience in the medical field. It is really not that hard to become certified to work if you know what the requirements of the state are. Before you start your career as a nursing assistant, you must first learn the skills and knowledge needed in taking care of the patients.
The first thing that you will need to do is to find a training program to enroll in. You have to remember that in order to ensure that you will receive proper training and education you should only enroll in a program that is approved by the state. Because of its high demand, these programs are found almost anywhere in Maine and are offered by different training facilities. Currently the state of Maine requires that CNA classes provide a minimum amount of hourly instruction and curriculum. At this time a total of 180 hours of instruction or more are necessary. This includes 70 hours of skills practice in a clinical setting, 90 hours of coursework/theory, and 20 hours of laboratory work.
After your training, you can then apply for the license exam in order to get your license. You will only get your license if you are able to pass all the tests and get your name on the Registry. The license exams for this state are composed of a written and a skills evaluation. For more information, please follow this link: http://www.maine.gov/dhhs/dlrs/cna/faq/index.shtml.
