Before you are allowed to work in any healthcare setting as a nurse aide, you must first receive the proper education and training. You can only get this by completing a CNA course that is approved by the state. Your training will consist of 75 hours of classes and 100 hours of skills training. It will take about 6 months to complete your training. After you finish your training, you can then move on to applying for the license exams. Another important prerequisite for the license exams is passing the background checks.
In the license exams there will be two parts, a written and a skills evaluation. To get your name entered into the state’s Nurse Aide Registry, you have to pass all the tests. If you fail in any of the test, you will not be eligible for any refunds and you will need to retake all the exams. If you do pass, you will receive a notice along with your certification 14 days after you have taken the exam. This will also depend on how complete your documents were when you applied. Since the request for a copy of your transcripts take a few days to process, this often leads to a delay in the release of the results.
