The first thing that you need to do in becoming a nursing assistant is to enroll in a CNA training school. You should make sure that their curriculum is approved by the state of Tennessee and they provide the necessary 75 hours of instruction.
You must also be able to pass the background check by both the federal and the state. In addition you will need to submit an application, and copies of a photo identification, social security card, and class transctipts in order to apply for the state license exams.
The license exams are made up of a manual skills test and a written test. For the manual skills portion you will need to demonstrate five of the proficiencies you previously learned during class instruction. For the written test you will need to score at least 70% to pass. Once you have passed both parts of the exam you will be placed on the nurse aide registry.
