You must enroll in a state-approved CNA training program first to become a nursing assistant in Tennessee. During your instruction you will spend your time in both class lectures and clinical exposure. While there you will learn 25 fundamental nursing skills in the clinic, and you will be under the direct supervision of a registered nurse.
All the things that were taught to you in the training program will be tested in the license examination. There you will be tested on 5 of the 25 skills you learned during your class program. Those who complete the exam will be placed on the Tennessee nurse aide registry and be able to get a job as a nursing assistant.
