The first thing that you should do to become a nursing assistant in Tennessee is to find a state-approved CNA training program and enroll in it. The facility will only be approved if it offers instruction in 25 nursing skills including a wide range of nursing fundamentals.
Of the 25 skills learned 5 of these skills will be tested in the state license exams. Those who pass the exams are included on the Tennessee Nurse Aide Registry and able to work for 24 months. In order to remain on the registry you must provide verification of having worked at least one 8 hour shift every consecutive 24 month period.
